Jamie Dimon

Lmao if anything, reading this letter told me to not read Dimon's letters any more. Ramblings on public policy, we should do this, we should do that, as if policy and world trends are a result of people consciously deciding not to do certain things that they 'should', and not because of complex factors, constraints, and gridlock. I extracted little value from his policy ramblings as a result. It is also unclear to me why Dimon deems it necessary to pose as some sort of public intellectual who's deeply concerned about the world. Needless to say, the biased lobbying for bank deregulation and dismissals of the Fed's calculations of a GSIB as 'convoluted and distorted' added little objective value to my understanding of these banking issues. However it was insightful to get a glimpse into the completely different scale at which Dimon operates compared to HLB. When he's the boss of the world's largest bank, I guess every world issue indeed becomes his business in some way or another. It'd be wild to imagine HLB given the carte blanche to weigh in on these global issues in our annual report.
