Abstract
In recent years, it has not gone unnoticed that museums have been the targets of protests, demands, and grievances concerning the ways they are governed. Especially in the Global North, numerous initiatives have drawn public attention to museums in inventive and unexpected ways.[1] Often, protesters have used the museums’ architectural spaces, such as a grand entrance hall, as the focal points for their protests. They do this to get their message out. The protests are staged through carefully thought-out photo shoots that then spread and circulate their statement through social media and the press, and thereby attract more public attention, and prompt action.
